November Wrap Up!

Hey, guys! I am very excited to talk about the four books I read this month. I had a pretty decent reading month, and I ended up reading five books. This is not as much as I usually read, but I am super proud of this since I have been dealing with a lot of stuff, from Thanksgiving to my phone breaking to the semester’s end looming ahead. Its just been very stressful, not to mention I was also participating in Nation Novel Writing Month. But let’s go ahead and jump right in!

The first book I read this month was Under His Protection by Alyse Zaftig.

This is a book that I already knew I was not going to like, and it was several different authors writing underneath one pen name. This is a story that is marketed as dark fantasy when that is actually completely wrong. It is contemporary/erotica, which I was not expecting at all. It was an adult novel, though the writing seemed very juvenile to me. You could really tell that it was written by several authors as it did not flow very well and didn’t seem cohesive. There didn’t really seem to be a storyline at all, it was instalove, there was no character development at all, and I just overall did not like this and do not recommend it. I ended up giving this 2/5 stars.

The next book I read was His Naughty Nurse by Nicole Elliot.

All right, I know what you’re thinking. But hold back your judgment on this horrible title and unfortunate cover because this was actually really good. It surprised me because I honestly thought this was going to be another trashy adult romance/erotica novel. The title makes it seem like its going to be about nothing but horribly written sex scenes, but it actually wasn’t like that at all. I thought the story was really well written, there was a lot of great character development, and it was a really believable love story. There was way more story than actual sex scenes (if I am recalling correctly, I think there were only one or two sex scenes, and I just overall thought it was a really well-rounded story. I gave this 4.5/5 stars.

The next book I read was Training Their Mate by Vella Day.

This was a reread for me, and I actually enjoyed it a lot more the second time around than the first. My original interpretation of it was that it was instalove with subpar writing, no character development, and a boring storyline whereas I have completely changed my mind. I thought this story had a lot of substance while also having the steamy, sexy scenes. I thought there was tons of character development, a really believable love story. I especially loved the overall storyline and the simplistic writing style. Basically, I changed all of my original thoughts on this novel, and I ended up giving this 4/5 stars.

The next book I read was The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery.

This is a children’s classic I had heard pretty decent things about, and I saw it really cheap at a used bookstore, so I picked it up, and I ended up really enjoying it. It was a really cute tale with really important morals woven throughout it. I think this would be something that would be great to read to a child as a bedtime story, and it was just really good. There were really cute and interesting illustrations with beautiful, simplistic writing. I thought it was absolutely hilarious and super emotional, surprisingly, as I did cry upon finishing it. I think it’s a cute little story that children and adults can read and enjoy, and I just really loved it. I ended up giving it 5/5 stars.

And the final book I read in November was Tales of the Peculiar by Ransom Riggs

This is a book that I’ve wanted to read for a while now and my girlfriend had it so she let me borrow it. I really enjoyed all of these tales. I did feel that some of them were more interesting than others as well as some of the stories being weaker than the other tales. Cocobolo is a good example of one of the stronger stories, and it was definitely my favorite one. If you want my full discussion and review of this book, I will have it linked here, but I did really enjoy it, and I ended up giving it 4/5 stars,

And there you have it! Those were all the books I read in November. What is your favorite book you read this month? Comment down below! I would love to know, and that is going to be it for this post today. Thank you all so much for reading this, I hope you enjoyed it, and I will see you next time!
