Hey, guys! I am super excited to talk about the books I plan on reading during the month of Halloween because one night is not enough to celebrate my favorite holiday! It is the spooky season, which is my favorite season so it will be full of chilly nights, hot chocolate, horror movies, and–of course–creepy books! Many of you may know that horror is not my favorite genre, so these are creepy books that aren’t going to give me nightmares, which is always a good thing. But let’s go ahead and jump into all of the books I want to read during the month of Halloween!
The first book I want to try to get to is Dracula by Bram Stoker.
This is a classic gothic horror story that I have literally been meaning to read for forever. I have started making it a tradition to read one gothic horror novel every year during Halloween, and I am definitely continuing that tradition this year! Last year I read Frankenstein and absolutely fell in love with it, so I am so excited to see what I think about Dracula! This story is inspired by Vlad the Impaler who ruled (and some would describe it as terrorized) Wallacia three times before his death, and I honestly have managed to not know much about this story other than it’s about a vampire. That is literally it, and I am so pleased with myself for managing to know that little. I always love going into stories blind, so I am so stoked (or should I say staked) to get to this one!
The next book I hope to get to is The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding by Alexandra Bracken.
This is a middle-grade fantasy story that follows Prosper Redding who discovers he has a demon living inside of him that is hellbent on getting revenge on the whole Redding family because Prosper’s great-great-great-great-whatever grandfather broke a deal he made with the demon, Alastor. I have heard so many great things about this book, and I also have heard that its hilarious, which I am so down for. This just sounds like a really fun but also creepy tale, and I just am so excited to read about what goes down between Prosper and this demon!
The last book I want to read during Halloween is My Plain Jane by the Lady Janies.
This is the second book in the My Lady Janies companion series by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows and I am so freaking excited to read this. Like this is at the top of my TBR right now. I absolutely loved the first book, My Lady Jane, and I just know I am going to adore this one. This is a companion series of retellings, whether historical or literary, but with fantasy elements thrown in, so much humor, and many liberties taken. Its such an entertaining series, and this one, in particular, is perfect for the spooky season. This is a retelling of Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, but with some occult elements thrown in the mix with ghost hunting and so many spooky shenanigans and I just am so here for this!
And there you have it! Those were all of the books I plan on reading in the month of Halloween! What spooky read are you planning on reading? Comment down below! I would love to know. And that is going to be it for this post today. Thank you all so much for reading this, I hope you enjoyed it, and I will see you next time!
